Turning Points In My Life - Chapter 2

Stepping into secondary life for the first time in my life, it felt like those days during primary school, seeing new faces everywhere i go. However, in this class of mine, there were actually two students whom had faces i've seen before. Jong and wq, the two friends of mine whom were in the primary school with me. I felt quite relief now knowing that they were in my class, and hopefully things would go smoothly through this life in the first year of this secondary journey. I switched places and sat with Jong, where we got even on better terms this time round compared to the past, as we chatted about almost everything in class everyday. Of course, we loved making fun of our classmates, especially the girls. Notice that during this period of time, i have not talked about the other side of Jong, so you have to read the following chapters to find out more about him. Mandy was the first classmate the both of us knew, and when we tend to tease her, she would turn around and scold us. Cleon, sitting at the back, would always talk to us about girls stuffs too. Yeah, i felt quite contented with my class sitting arrangement, no complaints at all. Even in Literature classes, our teacher Mr Chow also love talking to us, as we were always the jokers of the class, well most of the time Jong would crack funny jokes relating to literature and we would laugh throughout the whole lesson. But things started to change as the month reaches mid July... It started to get worse as our results weren't that good, especially for Literature. In the end, both of our places were switched to prevent further noise pollution in the class. This time, hell approaches...

A soccer match, which ended up in one injuring his leg while the other got pissed off with us. Both of them not coming for the chalet, one who is injured i can understand, but the other did not wanna come because we won against his team. Isn't this an act of childishness?

3.29.2008

Yesterday was my brother chien ming's 19th birthday, and people like sophia, ivan, kok chye, benjamin, yu jie, wei qian and billy were present during his celebration at 888. Wei qian had to leave early due to his worship practice on saturday morning. So it was left with the few us around that area, and my brothers pop many bottles of Heneiken, and this continued all the way til 4 plus in the morning, though sophia left for home during the interval. We talked about many things and did nonsense too, especially when ivan and kok chye put nuts into my beer, which tasted like plain water in the end. It's been a long time since something like this was done already, a small gathering like this, where everyone sat together and chatted. Though i was stress in planning out for the chalet, i felt it was worth it. :) Anyway i woke up quite late, and i would be having a soccer match later on at 5pm at woodgrove sec soccer field, it's going to be quite fierce i believe, given that the opponents are older than us but almost all of us had played against them in the carpark. So this match is a battle of pride, honour and glory, and not mentioning the 8 bucks that each of us had to fork out for the referee and the soccer field. I think the win should be able to make the money worthwhile. Alright people, Let's do This!

P.S : Didn't expect billy loo to read the turning points of my life chaper 1 ' Jong ' =)

3.28.2008

This week the trend, it was me waking up at 10am and doing the same routine every morning. Push-ups and cleaning my room, breakfast and slacking the whole day at home playing my PS2. That's my current lifestyle at the moment, but this week was special, 4 out of 5 of my best friends are going to be one year older. Mandy, Yao Jun, Adam and Chien Ming are the few march babies to celebrate their birthdays this week. Tomorrow, or today is Chien Ming's birthday, and i hope that we will be meeting up to celebrate his birthday. Even if some of us cant celebrate, during the chalet, there's always time to help celebrate the march babies. I have been waiting for the call from this restaurant but it seems to me that they might not be interested in hiring me. This might be bad news as i am seriously broke, and i never wanted to ask money from my parents cause my second brother always takes money from them, and i did not want to increase the diameter of the hole in their wallets. Anyway, the days of the chalet is coming near, and hopefully the whole thing wouldn't become a failure. I think i have not done much in terms of the bbq preparations and other stuffs, mostly all the plannings are done by chien ming and the ' not-coming' kok chye. I feel bad about this, i want to be part of the whole organizing thing, which ended in me not contributing much to it. I thought to myself, maybe i am not cut out for events & management.

3.27.2008

I've been thinking, if i work during weekdays after school, will it affect my studies? Well never mind about for the time being, now there's is something i want to complain, and this concerns members of the talk cock group. Why do most of the talk cock group members' birthdays fall in the month of march?! And moreover, given the financial status i am in, i cant even get a single present for most of my buddies, and i am feeling very guilty about it. I would like to apologize to them and i will make up to them during the chalet period. I will make sure this chalet will be an unforgettable one for them. I will invite Joash to do the honours, okay that was just a joke.

Seeing some of my brothers back from the trip was quite a relief, they are all still as same and lame as ever, which makes me feel like home again. But i feel that i am beginning to miss those times when all of us would be together hanging out at places, be it low class or high class, we would chat and make jokes everywhere we go, and we never seemed to stop. As some of us are preparing to step into the second year in campus, some are starting as freshmen in their year ones, but in different campuses (Singapore Polytechnic, Nanyang Polytechnic). Starting from this year onwards, it is going to be a very tough journey ahead. Less dinner gatherings, less outings and etc. Honestly i do not want this to happen in our group, to me, without them i would not become the person i am today. Without them, i would be someone who has not experienced what life is, and the taste of having true friends beside you to point out your mistakes and allowing you to become a better person. My group of ' never-say-die ' brothers, is one of the turning points in my life. Having chalet gatherings once or twice in a year allows us to meet up and chat about our daily lives' events. Without the chalet gathering, i don't think the bond in the group would be as strong as ever. So i treat every chalet gathering seriously, and members who cant turn up due to important reasons are acceptable, but giving excuses like having no money and whatsoever, please have the decency to learn how to save up responsibly.

I think i have been talking too much about all this stuffs, hope you readers don't find it too boring. Cause there are some things that i need to spill out and broadcast it through this blog.

Stepping into poly life was quite a difficult step for me, cause i was always inside my comfort zone. Very reluctant to open up myself and socialise with the outside world, that was a negative side of me which affected my life in poly quite seriously. The day i stepped into my class, it gave me an impression of a class full of nerds and scholar wannabes. I just simply hate that kind of class, but but something allowed me to change that impression of it. And that something was time. Time allowed me to know more of the people in my class, and through time, i got to know a few trusted friends, and they acted as a mirror to me, allowing myself to see my mistakes and changing some negative characteristics of myself. A year has passed, the bond that was initially weak became very strong among us. Also going to the YEP trip has definitely made me understand more of my trusted friends and allowing me to understand myself too. It was only a pity that jin hong, zheng rong and ze ting did not join us for that trip. If they do, i would like to see the true colours hidden within their outer shells. Take for example my bro Trey, my first impression on him was that he loves slacking in class, and talks alot about girls, just like me. But through the trip, he was our leader, and this made me feel there was another side of him. He was serious and shows full participation and puts lots of effort to ensure our safety, and that everything would go smoothly for the trip.

For me, i believe that these friends are part of my life, be it good or bad, i will never walk out on them. But if they do things that annoy me or disappoint me, maybe there is a reason behind everything. I must learn to understand and accept them.

Til then...

Turning points in my life___

today i would like to share a story of someone. okay i will name him ' Jong '. from young, Jong loves gambling, and he loves to tell his friends his favourite quote, ' when i first started out gambling, you were still drinking your mom's milk! ' yeah, in terms of appearances, he was super retro, and no one dared to use him as a fashion icon. instead people insulted and criticise him behind his back. everytime he walks pass my class during those primary school days, i would stare at him with envy. everywhere he goes, he possess this influence in himself that people who were near him would bowed their heads down. although some people did not like him for who he is, i respected him and of course i got to know him through connections. when i finally started talking to him, the first sentence i began was soccer bets, i asked him for hints on this particular soccer match. his reply was simple, ' if you followed my bets, i confirm guarantee chop you sure win big big money! ' words from a wise man, and i was captivated by greed, so i decided to bet on this particular match.

eventually i won money out from the game, and that respect for him grew even more. it was then me and jong became friends too, and through this kind of unhealthy methods of lifestyle made my life grew even more interesting. who cares about concentrating on books when i could actually gamble and earn some quick pocket money. i used to be a very nerdy student, after school everyday i would take the bus home straight away, have dinner, complete my homework and go to bed. but right now, i met someone in my life, and he could also be one of the turning points in my life. Jong.
okay more of this story tomorrow when i have the time. :) i am tireddd already. night.

chapter 1 complete.

3.24.2008

it's a monday and i think i have lots of planning to start on liao, especially for the upcoming chalet. and i just receive a call from qing wen that i will be starting my new job on tuesday. so lots of things to be completed by tomorrow. met wq billy for grandslam sunday at kok's house yesterday and they never seem to change yet in terms of their appearance and character. but i could tell from their shag faces that they have been working too hard at carrier transicold. and i heard news from them that the great legend joash ong has finally fallen in that workplace. he fainted even before lunchtime, isn't that great news? wonder if the two of them bought 4D that day, who knows it might come out the first prize?! :)
i'm still quite adapting to the life back here in singapore, one weird thing is that i am beginning to love cleaning the house when my parents are at work, maybe the area cleaning in the village has made me appreciate what cleanliness is and thus seeing my house in a mess is quite a sore to my eyes.
okay i think i better start to head to bed if not i might not wake up early in the morning to complete my journal and hand up on time in np. Lol, lots of things to accomplish, yet so lil time.

3.22.2008

this is where our water supplies come from.

jessica me and samantha. the one in the middle is ma qian! =)

the school where the 'children of the corn' studies !

the common room where i slept for a whole week!

alright here are some pictures that i have taken during my week's stay in the village also known as ' xiao long cun'. notice the picture above has a red flag. it stands for communism, and if anyone of us makes that flag drops, we can kiss our asses goodbye to singapore. Lol! the table where the cups are place is also our heater which keeps us warm during the cold freezing night when we sleep. the third picture shows of a school, where the children of corn studies there, it can be scary at times. there was this time when me samantha louis johanna felicia taught the pre-school kids and suddenly glass pieces just came flying into the class. i lost temper after that and everything got worse. haha come to think of it i find it funny actually. :) haha

i will post more of these pics when im free again. :)

3.21.2008

im back from yunan, china! during these two weeks in china to me was like staying there for a month, initially i wanted to come back when i first the village which was located high up in the mountains. the toilets and the staying conditions were quite rough, plus given the fact that i was not able to bathe there for a week. some reasons was the cold temperature up there and the freezing ice water collected from the well was not enough for everyone. anyway i've endured a week of torture and during this week, i did interact with the village kids and helped out with alot of stuffs that needed to be completed. okay this is all i have to say, im quite lazy to type out what i have actually done during this two weeks. i also like someone there during the trip, only my at bros know who. :) haha but like i said. if she was only 2 years younger and single, i would have gone all the way liao.

2.29.2008

i conquered the highest point of pulau ubin by foot!

ang wei qian and my class t1t1 in the front before the trip!

well this two pictures can actually summarise what we did during the trip to pulau ubin la. well zheng rong has more pictures than me, and hopefully he will compile them up and send it to us. Lol.

Thursday, 28th February 2008 :

i met dex qw billy ben and ivan and headed down to clarke quay, where caleb came and joined us on the way too. and we were going to club as part of a gathering. finally an outing since... i'm not sure when was our last official gathering. =( but saturday would be talk cock group's gathering at qing wen's house. he's going to celebrate his birthday if im not wrong, an early celebration. Lol. yeah ok back to the outing, now here's the bad news, the ticket holder had an stomach upset and we waited for like almost 3 hours outside the bar before she arrived and gave us the tickets. then we entered, and suddenly the bouncer told us we were not of age and had to leave the area immediately. so i think you guys should know the outcome, refunds and supper! we've got punk'd. from woodlands to clarke quay, waited for 3 hours, got fuck out, and supper over there. Lol. can't blame qing wen, but it's the ticket holder who was at fault, giving the wrong details of the club thing. in the end, not only did we not dance, ben missed his debut appearance in clubbing.

but there will be one more coming up, 11 march - zouk. don't worry i wun be going as i'm in the middle of a china trip haha! :) alright man, today i will be heading down to minds' for cip programme, after which dinner with my class and drinking session with them during the night. it's going to be a long day i suppose so i better get some sleep right now. damn! good night people. hahaha!

2.28.2008

met tiger trey jun long ze ting and wei qian at the interchange and we headed straight down to changi village in the early morning! all because we planned to cycle around pulau ubin, yeah action speaks louder than words, we talk and we proceed on with the plan. of course i brought my cycling leader with me so that we could plan for our own cycling club activity. well that depends on whether talk cock group members are interested with this pulau ubin trip. anyway, it was a tiring one, especially when i 'gek kiang' go borrow this 'piyo-piyo' and chiong almost around the island. and trey allowed us to taste the different types of cycling terrains through the trip. and i was damn exhausted and hungry. it took us about 4 hours before coming to an end.
wei qian left us around 8 pm for soccer at toa payoh while i continue to hang out with t1t1 and yao jun introduce us this vegeterian restaurant, and some vegeterian delights around bugis. after eating such wonderful delicacies. i suddenly wanted to become a vegeterian. Lol, trust me, you people should go and try. i just realized i wanted to ask mei ting out to pulau ubin, but she ain't free i guess. cause she's having attachment so i thought maybe heading there to chill might be a good idea ? hahaha ok la. tomorrow i'm having an interview at raffles town club. tiger will be accompanying me, finally a job to look forward to.

few more days before flying to yunnan, china! :)

2.25.2008

okay this was abit stupid. i've got a huge rocket!

this is nicholas ng reporting live, talk cock news. the A380!
spot me! Lol.
saturday, 23rd february 2008:
today i woke up late in the morning, and i had to take a taxi straight down to ngee ann polytechnic for the Singapore Airshow briefing. i paid 11 bucks for the trip! and when i reached there, people were still late and ended up starting at 9am. if i had known, i could have board the bus or the train rather than spending on cab fare. damn... also, the speech given by our mechanical division director was disappointing though his powerpoint presentation were excellent. and he's done a good job wasting everyone's time and in the end when the shuttle bus took us to the Changi Exihibition Hall, the queue to the entrance was like ' what the hell?! '... a never-seen-before queue. okay me zheng rong and trey tried to cut into the queue and all we got was harsh scoldings by some by-passers and tourists. what luck man, some more it was a total embarrassment. but it was worth a try. :)
finally we got passed the security check and what a time! the planes started its performances and we were captivated by all that stunts and wows done by these pilots. well at least they did it to capture our attention for like 45 minutes? some almost fell asleep while standing and watching these performances. but the arrival of the A380 made everyone stood still in the whole exhibition hall area and stared at the elegance of that huge plane fly in the sky. and that feeling to me is really undescribable. it's just like seeing the first love of your life. wa... okay okay wake up damn it! hahaha
okay okay pictures were taken during the whole tour around the place and i shan't elaborate any further. damn! but that would be my first and last trip there already, given the fact that we still had to queue to exit and take a stupid cab which costs 45 bucks a trip! after careful considerations, we decided to walk to changi station! but halfway through the walking journey some of us could not bear the pain on our aching soles and ended up cabbing all the way to changi village and ate dinner. tiger met us over there after his work and we heard this interesting record which he sent us and that made bond even more as a class. Lol, hahahah. it's like we're listening as a class.
finally home sweet home on that day, going to pulau ubin on tuesday with the at guys and hopefully on our friday outing there wouldn't be any more drunken asses. hahaha :)
sunday, 24th february 2008:
did all my household chores and bathed before meeting chien ming at 6 in the evening. it's been a long while since i met him and he's got a haircut! hahaha actually i had this sms competition which i am suppose to attend at MOS but i woke up late so nah i think i will give it a miss. Lol, played soccer at 7pm and i played against a lousiest team in woodlands, some more they act as if they are good. damn it man, if i act, that's acceptable cause i'm good Lol. arrogant but i like it. hahaha. okay BOMB. then ivan and the rest came and eventually knocked our team, but we can't blame it, the previous team played at my grandma's speed while the game momentum against ivan's team was fast. so we couldn't adapt at that period of time and lost the whole game.
played already and dinnered at 888 before heading to kok chye's house for the carling cup final. chelsea and tottenham. yeah, they lost the whole cup thing to them, and tottenham won by pure luck. -.- damn. Lol.

2.22.2008

my class outing today was super fun. ranging from various activities, damn we did many stupid things together. hahaha arcade, macdonald's, watching a movie, walking to clarke quay, and drinking! everything single event that we did was fun. of course i'm not quite sure what i'm typing now. Lol. damn... i feel so high.... aoahsfoiahsfoiashfoihfoihsaihosihfoadsifha

2.16.2008

i'm trying to post it in black colour font so hopefully you guys can see clearly. :) anyway i've just completed two major papers, engineering mathematics and mechanics! they're are like a piece of cake to me. especially for the engineering mechanics paper, i did like two times just to spend time, at the same time spotting careless mistakes. imagine getting full marks for these two papers, ok stop being so arrogant nicholas ng. damn!

i've never taken an exam paper in the weekends, and it really sucks. but it was really crowded in the canteen and this girl caught my attention straight away and my classmates were like also joining me staring at her. Lol i mean not staring obviously at her. damn, she's just the girl i'm looking for. LOL joking only, btw she's attached and i know my limits.

i went for this valentine function in christ church sec which was organised by the church members, of course samantha was there too! i was so surprised, and the dancing part with her... i also don't wanna say, she danced damn fast la, and even before the music stopped we have already dance finish. Lol really funny sia. overall i had quite abit of fun, hahaha. looking forward for the league games. must start to practice field soccer training liao.

2.12.2008

been've mugging in the school library for hours this two days, and its going to continue like this until next week, before the interview at carrier. Lol. i'm going to chiong and use the ' tap and go ' formula to tackle the papers. don't wanna think about it after the papers, seemed like everyone are already geared up for the engineering mechanics paper. why isn't anyone practising mathematics? Lol, that's strange, unless they are going to score, why? why? ain't anyone going to practise mathematics questions? argh damn. Lol

oh oh and i was studying half way when this girl got my attention, no wait, actually there were 3. g-string girl, green shirt girl, and black spaghetti girl. damn! imagine getting all of them at one shot. okay i'm being too greedy, hahaha. okay la. enough with the nonsense, i shall go to sleep. night!

2.11.2008

its been a long while since playing football together with gary, our winters teammate who came back to singapore for a holiday. of course he's getting more suave, and his skills are superb. i can't even compare myself to him. lol what a joke. but i still get 7 goals under my belt today. :) only one time when i got so tired i couldn't run anymore and we lost the game. eh eh wait, actually me ivan chien ming joash have lost all the way till we finally broke the deadlock and won 3 games before starting to lose all over again. and we still can laugh about it, there were a few times i almost lost my cool with joash as his goalkeeping skills weren't impressive at all. hey i do have mistakes of my own to reflect on. :)

today's monday! more events coming up later, studying at campus, going to queenstown to shop for a pair of soccer boots, which i think its time to get it for soccer training. but it's costly, and that's where the money part comes in. i'm not sure whether i will be able to give a good impression of myself as a worker when i go back to carrier transicold. firstly i have to take a 2 weeks leave for my china trip, secondly 5 days leave for the talk cock group chalet. i guess, its time to officially start saving. not to mention forking out another 3o bucks for the remaining balance of the chalet money.
oh man, i need to plan and organize my stuffs super carefully. damn! hope there ain't going to be any team-bonding day for the china trip. =( in this way i can work all the way to the day of the trip. :)

2.09.2008

i just broke my latest record! and that is receiving only 1 ang bao from my friend sophia ong, hahaha yeah that's a surprise alright. other friends like benjamin qing wen wei qian ivan billy joash yu jie dex also came along for visiting. chien ming and mei ting are still in malaysia with their relatives though, wonder when will they come back.

assignments are starting to pile up as the deadlines are coming near. i have to finish them up by this sunday midnight. lots of things to do, but yet so little time. hahaha, must organize my stuffs as soon as possible. mmm i guess i will start doing that after the chinese new year. hahaha, it lasts for 15 days so its okay la. oh yeah! the valentine's day coming but i still do not have a date. :( that's saddening.

2.08.2008

visiting at my grandparents' place was a bore, but the collection of red packets and the tv shows kept me awake. yeah it was a tiring day, especially yesterday's midnight cycling trip to geylang. and i mean i am tired from all that cycling, not from other kinds of activities, so dun misunderstand. hahaha after that my family and i headed down to marina promenade to walk around and feel the chinese new year atmosphere over there. it was so crowded with the place filled with china citizens and bangalas. its like we are trapped in between little india and chinatown.

and there came this mad china man coming up to me asking whether i have ren ming bi to lend him to take a bus to airport, and cooking up a story that he lost his wallet there-.- well i tried to believe him and wanted to help him. but i told him, ' no wallet, no money. ' and he walked away in frustration. hahaha i wanted to say ' gong xi fa cai ' as he left but i didn't.

alright tomorrow might be heading down to school to finish up my online assignments and the deadline's on 10th feb. and valentine's next thur! damn! im still not prepared yet. argh.

2.07.2008

cycling trip to geylang! hahaha we set off after 6 of us had our reunion dinner. leong me wq billy joash and yu jie were the cyclists. there were no accidents nor any bike damages. the most fun part was during the sight-seeing of the night life in geylang. we saw how the prositutes over there tried to grab customers. of course leong and me got grab by them the most. Lol scary! especially when they didn't wanna let go. hahaha. just got home from the trip and it was dead tiring. later going for visiting, yeah the first collection of red packets. i cant wait for them!

2.06.2008

chinese new year is just a few hours away! anyway i just woke up from such a nice sleep, been having alot of weird yet nice dreams these few days, especially when having some of the talk cock group members inside my dreams. there were like camps, outings, overseas trips and some dreams even brought me back into the past. Lol, only some people know about it. damn its a secret. yao jun, trey, jin hong and weiqian have known about it. hahaha.

yesterday i had a great day with my AT bros. i headed down to trey's crib. and it was way cool. especially his room, i just wish i had one like his. his parents were very friendly, given for the fact that they wanted to treat us for dinner. only zheng rong yao jun wilfred nick tam trey went for dinner. the rest like me headed home to sleep. Lol.

tonight's going to be a wild night. reunion dinner and cycling! omg, cant imagine what series of events we will be expecting during the cycling trip. hahaha there will be photos taken during the trip. hahaha oh yeah, speaking of cycling... i forgot to pump my bike! Lol
